Arrival of Fall

megan called last night to announce the arrival of fall.
"it's time to pull the indigo girls out, jenny. i listened to them on the trainride to evanston this morning."
i imagined her in a gray sweater and comfortable teacher appropriate pants. it was probably 5:50 a.m. when she rode the train and i visualized her hair long enough to begin the "should i let it grow or chop it" stage and i almost heard emily whispering the language of the kiss into her ears. so this afternoon i bundled up in my favorite hooded green sweater and set out for a long walk into town. i had my indigo girls playing on my headphones and i watched the sun set from the sled hill. i stopped at the library and then the coffee shop where megan and i spent many summer nights dreaming and planning our future. i am ready for fall with my camera in tow.
